2012 Summer Camp Appeal

April 2012

Dear Friends:

The mild winter spoiled us all a little.  Normally we would have been shivering through freezing temperatures and cursing the groundhog for predicting six more weeks of winter.  This year winter melded almost seamlessly into spring — with summer not far behind.

For children with developmental disabilities who wait for the return of summer camp, the seasons can’t pass too quickly.  Last year with your help we were able to support 25 children at Camp by the Sea, the Jewish Community Center’s inclusive summer camp in Margate.  The Arc partners with the camp by providing funding for additional counselors to support the children with special needs.

The children get to participate in camp activities with all their new friends. They learn new skills, play games, explore nature, create arts and crafts and just have fun.  They feel included because they are.  They grow in self-confidence and self-acceptance as they are accepted by others.  All the children benefit.

hen I hear the moving stories about the children who are able to participate in this wonderful program I know why our generous community steps up each year to help us make camp a reality for them.  Please consider making a gift.  A donation in any amount makes a difference.  We've made it easy to donate on-line right here. You may also send a check made payable to The Arc of Atlantic County with the reference Summer Camp 2012 and send to the address below.

Join me to help make this summer special for a child.

Sincerely,
