Jimmy is a hardworking, caring man who would do anything to help a friend. Even though Jimmy ‘s family is mostly gone, he had the good fortune of having a close friend who looked out for him and provided him with a place to call home. When his friend unexpectedly died, Jimmy was homeless and needed help. Never one to complain, Jimmy made the best of his situation and lived outdoors for a while.
As the weather started to change, Jimmy’s situation became more desperate. Jimmy had no money, no food, and nobody who could assist him to get the help he so desperately needed. He needed someone he could trust, who was experienced and could help him find housing, food and healthcare. Thanks to support from people like you, Jimmy was able to get the help he needed from the case management professionals at The Arc of Atlantic County. Our case managers worked with Jimmy to secure emergency housing, food, and healthcare.
Your year-end gift is an investment in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities like Jimmy.
At a time of year when we’re thinking about the holidays, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for the generous support you have provided The Arc of Atlantic County. Over the past year, we have continued our work to advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to ensure they have the opportunity to live the lives they choose. Even with all that we have accomplished, our work is far from complete. Jimmy’s story reminds us of that.
On behalf of the people we serve and their families, we wish you a healthy and happy holiday season. Thank you for your continued support and for allowing us to support people with intellectual and
developmental disabilities to Dream, Believe, and Achieve.
